Mika Lyberth and Patrick Döpping, who are behind the Nuuk Trail Series, have now published the race calendar for the 2026 season, which this year offers eight races spread over spring, summer and autumn.
Nuuk Trail Series 2026 is a collaboration between Nuuk Trail Series, Nuuk Mountain Challenge and Nuuk Five Peaks, the latter of which is organized in collaboration with Assut Adventures.
The races are held in and around Nuuk and range from short, steep routes to longer mountain races and technically demanding routes with many meters of elevation gain. According to the organizers, the goal is not only to create competition, but also to strengthen the local running environment.
– First and foremost, we are looking forward to really starting the race series. Last year, we saw many people who were happy to run races that were a little different from what they are used to. Some runners were very concerned about their points and position. We could see a little extra enthusiasm and motivation. We organize the races, but we are also very much looking forward to running in our unique hinterland. We also hope that the competition will generate interest among the audience, which may also motivate them to run themselves, organizer Mika Lyberth tells Sermitsiaq.
Race overview – Nuuk Trail Series 2026
Nuuk Five Peaks is included in the series through the collaboration between Nuuk Trail Series and Assut Adventures, which is behind the race and the overall route and event development.
– Nuuk Trail Series is about building a strong and unifying trail running environment in Nuuk. We want to inspire more people to get involved in trail running and at the same time strengthen the sporting level. The goal is to create inclusive and challenging running experiences that promote movement, community and activity in nature, says Patrick Bech, co-owner of Assut Adventures.
The organizers are looking forward to a new season where both new and experienced runners can challenge themselves in the mountains around Nuuk.
