The Greenland Police are experiencing more cases of violence among young people, as well as cases where violent assaults are recorded and shared on social media or in specific groups or chats.
In several cases, violence is carried out by groups.
This is stated by the police in a press release, in which the law enforcement authorities are urging everyone to be aware and take action if they see or experience violence:
- Together we can create a safe environment for our young people, the police write.
According to the police, it may be a criminal offence to record and share videos of violence:
- If you stand in a group and watch, fail to stop it or call for help, then depending on the circumstances, it may be considered complicity, cf. the Criminal Code, writes the Greenland Police and continues:
- If you see violence being committed, it is important to call for help or do what is possible to stop it.
If you have seen someone being subjected to violence or have experienced it yourself, the police can be contacted on 70 14 48.
