Naalakkersuisoq's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Vivian Motzfeldt (S), and the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lars Løkke Rasmussen (Moderates), will meet with the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, tomorrow.

Lars Løkke Rasmussen has now said that the US Vice President, J.D. Vance, will also participate.

- Regarding the meeting, I can also inform you that the American Vice President, J.D. Vance, has wanted to participate and will host the meeting, says Løkke.

This was announced by Lars Løkke on Tuesday after a meeting of the Foreign Policy Committee (UPN). Here, "The Kingdom's relations with the USA" was the only item on the agenda. In addition to Løkke, Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen (Left) from the government also participated.

Since J.D. Vance will be hosting the meeting, it will take place at the White House.

- The background to the meeting is to get this entire discussion into a meeting room where we can look each other in the eye, and therefore I have no further comments, says Lars Løkke according to TV2.

It was Vivian Motzfeldt and Lars Løkke who requested the meeting after several statements from President Donald Trump about wanting control over Greenland.

Will meet with NATO

Meeting activities are underway. Vivian Motzfeldt and Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen will meet with NATO's Secretary General on Monday about the situation in the Arctic.

It is the Minister of Defense who has requested the meeting.

- We need a greater presence, not least from NATO, says Troels Lund Poulsen.

The news about the meeting in Brussels also comes in continuation of the meeting in the Foreign Policy Committee on Denmark's and Greenland's relations with the USA.

At the meeting in Brussels, Troels Lund Poulsen will try to clarify the need for a greater military presence in the Arctic.

- It has been a Danish priority for several years to have a discussion in NATO and, not least, to get greater attention in relation to NATO's presence in and around the Arctic, he says.

While he will work for a greater NATO focus in the high north, he also announces a strengthened Danish effort in Greenland.

- In addition, I would like to inform you that we are moving forward with the entire issue of a more permanent and larger presence in Greenland from Danish defense, also with the participation of other countries, says Troels Lund Poulsen.

The Minister of Defense is not specific in his announcement about how many new soldiers and military units this will mean.
