Democracy: The advanced Inatsisartut meeting must gather political course in serious time

Demokraatit supports Inatsisartut meeting earlier than planned, so that an open and united political debate can be held on the current situation. The party emphasizes that Greenland is in a serious geopolitical situation, where unity and close dialogue with allies are crucial.

– It is entirely appropriate that Inatsisartut members can hold a political debate on the current situation and find a common political course and the next steps, he says.

Demokraatit supports Inatsisartut meeting earlier than planned, so that members can discuss the current situation and ensure a fair and united political debate about Greenland's course. This is stated by Bo Martinsen, who speaks on behalf of Demokraatit and the executive board.

- We have discussed the current situation, and we understand the need to know our position - especially with regard to our need to stand together externally, says Bo Martinsen.

He emphasizes that it is natural that Inatsisartut's members are given the opportunity to have a political debate about the situation and agree on the next steps.

– It is entirely appropriate that Inatsisartut members can hold a political debate on the current situation and find a common political course and the next steps, he says.

Thank you Greenlanders

Demokraatit also highlights that the Government of Greenland has already left a clear mark in the political handling of the situation.

– That being said, we would like to thank the Government of Greenland for the work they have done so far, says Bo Martinsen.

He points out that Greenland's security policy framework today is based, among other things, on the Commonwealth and thus the affiliation to NATO.

– With the Commonwealth, we are part of NATO and thus protected by the alliance, and our allies in Europe support us, he says.

Jens-Frederik: Greenland is not for sale

Naalakkersuisut Chairman Jens-Frederik Nielsen has stated in this regard that Greenland is not for sale – and the statement came when he stood with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

– One thing everyone must understand. Greenland will not be owned by the USA. Greenland will not be governed by the USA. Greenland will not be part of the USA, said Jens-Frederik Nielsen. He also emphasized that Greenland is part of the Kingdom, and that in the current situation the country seeks dialogue with respect for Greenland's constitutional position and the Greenlanders' right to self-determination.

Jens-Frederik Nielsen further said that if Greenland had to choose here and now, it would choose the Kingdom, the EU and NATO.
