Canada's foreign minister visits Nuuk and marks the opening of a new consulate

Foreign visits to Greenland are far from over. On Friday, an official visit by Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, will begin, arriving in Nuuk.

On Friday, Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, will officially open Canada's new consulate in Greenland. The opening will be in the presence of Canada's Governor General, Mary Simon.

The consulate is part of Canada's Arctic foreign policy from 2024 and strengthens Canada's presence in Greenland. The opening will conclude with an official reception in Nuuk, where representatives from Canada, Greenland and Denmark will give speeches.

During the visit, Anita Anand will meet with Greenland's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Vivian Motzfeldt, and Denmark's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

On Saturday afternoon, the three foreign ministers will participate in a joint press conference.
