Søren Mortensen, together with local enthusiasts and businesses, has been behind the establishment of Qaqortoq South Park – a brand new activity park for children, young people and adults. The park offers skateboard ramps, a basketball court, a climbing area and an area for play and exercise.

The project originated from a Messenger group among the city's youth, where they shared tricks and dreamed of a skate park.

The idea grew and Søren Mortensen drew up a proposal. Shortly afterwards, the Qaqortoq South Park association was founded. Together with local contractors and companies, the dream has now become a reality.

The park is supported by, among others, 60° North Greenland, KJ Greenland, RAL, HK, Hotel Qaqortoq, Sermeq Helicopters, Inuplan, Masanti, Syd Greenlandsk El, Stark, Permagreen and Kunguaq.

The park in Qaqortoq is an example of how local initiatives and collaboration can transform a sketch and an idea into a living communal space.
