There is a lot of focus on Greenland's ability to handle crises at the moment, and on Tuesday there was a concrete strengthening of preparedness when Naalakkersuisoq Peter Borg opened a container with equipment from Denmark:
- I am happy about the equipment that has just arrived. It is a contribution that consists of generators, tents and beds, among other things. Equipment that the Danish Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Torsten Schack Pedersen himself helped pack in Denmark a little over a week ago, he says.
According to naalakkersuisoq, the strengthened cooperation with Denmark in the area of emergency preparedness is a responsible supplement to Greenland's own emergency preparedness.
Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness in Denmark, Torsten Schack Pedersen, states that this includes equipment for heating rooms and emergency generators for use in the event of prolonged power outages, and it supplements the material and personnel that have already arrived in Greenland from Denmark.
- It is important that we stand together in these times – and I am pleased that we can contribute to a strengthened preparedness in Greenland. For the benefit of the security of Greenlanders, which has been under pressure recently, says Torsten Schack Pedersen.
